JDI Barbell is a dedicated strength facility located in Long Island City, New York. We focus exclusively on the training and education of strength sports including (Olympic-) Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and foundational Strength Training.
We aim to bring the element of competition to strength training through a culture with the collective pursuit of strength in mind. Members of the JDI Team challenge and push each other in a way that a coach could never do alone.
We have classes for all levels of skill and experience. To ensure peak performance and longevity in all our athletes, we are in constant pursuit to provide the highest caliber programming and technique-focused coaching. Founder & Head Coach

Jesse is a former D1 Strength and Conditioning Coach and was mentored by Bill Gillespie and Dave Williams, two of the few CSCCa master strength coaches. He has close to ten years experience coaching and has competed in both Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting.

Assistant Coach

Laura is a powerlifter, National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer specializing in trauma-informed training, and serves on the advisory board of the Women's Strength Coalition.  She is the Assistant Coach for the Strength Groundwork program.

Nancy is a powerlifter, former bikini competitor and a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Nancy runs the Silent Strength program at JDI.
